With the remarkable array of digital tools available, it can be difficult to determine which ones you’ll need in order to complete a specific project. This workshop will introduce several broad areas of tech that we will be covering over the course of the institute (including data visualization and web design) and teach you the vocabulary needed to engage in the corresponding workshops to follow. We will then examine the tools that others used to create several example projects and begin to think about which tools we might need to create our own projects.
Workshop Objectives
- Be able to define the following terms: web design, data visualization, data analysis, data cleaning, Tableau, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, CSV file, spreadsheet, Git, GitHub, Git Pages, text editor, documentation
- Learn how to “reverse engineer” the tools needed to create a project
